Alma Sharpe McGill's Obituary
Mrs. Alma Sharpe McGill, of Alexander City, Alabama passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the age of 99 in Alexander City, Alabama. The family will gather on Saturday, January 4, 2025, for a private funeral service. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park.
Born on April 14, 1925, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Alma's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the grace she carried throughout her years.
Alma was the cherished matriarch of a family that adored her. She is survived by her devoted children: daughter, Diana McGill Milam and her husband Rickey; sons, Kenneth McGill and Mike McGill and his wife Cindy. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Cori McGill Hinson and her husband Mark, Abbey McGill Carr, and Leslie McGill Voss and her husband Wesley. Alma's great-grandchildren, Lauren Newman, Lilli Carr, JM Newman, Harris Carr, and Emma Voss. She also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces and nephews who will miss her gentle guidance.
Alma was reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband of 66 years, Douglas Guice McGill, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her parents, Hubbard Frank Sharpe and Annie Lee Ennis Sharpe, her daughter-in-law Kitty McGill, and her eight siblings, with whom she shared a childhood filled with love and laughter.
She was a strong Christian lady who studied her Bible faithfully, always keeping the faith and expressing gratitude for the grace of God.
Those who knew Alma will remember her as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Alma found joy in the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of life.
Alma took pride in everything she did, striving for immaculate results whether in her home, her garden, or her relationships. Her hands, always busy, were a testament to her belief in hard work and her commitment to excellence in all things.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be given in Mrs. McGill’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 ST. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
