Alicia Renee Taunton, affectionately known as Renee to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, in Alexander City, Alabama, after a life rich with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Born on March 23, 1966, in Montgomery, Alabama, Renee's infectious smile and warm heart brightened the lives of those around her for 58 wonderful years.
Renee's life was marked by her dedication to her family, who were the center of her world. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her children, Andrew Taylor, Zach (Leah) Taylor, and Ashleigh (Michael) Murphy; her adored grandchild, Kimber Taylor; and her caring brothers, Greg (Jeanne) Taunton and Gary Taunton; and sisters-in-law, Judy Taunton and Kathy Parton. Her extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her special friend, Jeannie Hodnett, will also hold her memory dear. The Taunton family has lost a cherished sister and aunt, as Renee was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Otis and Alice Taunton, brother, Keith Taunton, and her nephew, Justin Taunton.
Renee's professional life was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, as she spent 17 years at Mother Goose daycare, where her love for children shone brightly as she cared for the little ones in the baby room. Her kindness and gentle touch left a lasting impression on countless families over the years.
Beyond her work, Renee was a woman of many passions. She shared an unbreakable bond with her parents and was known as the princess to her three brothers, who spoiled and protected her with unwavering affection. Renee's joy was found in the simple pleasures of life-whether it was spending time on the serene waters of Lake Martin, losing herself in a good book, meticulously assembling puzzles, or engaging in a playful game of Phase 10 with friends and family.
A collector of lighthouses, Renee's fascination with these beacons of light mirrored her own role in life, guiding and uplifting those around her. Her love for dogs, especially the Beagle breed, was evident in her adoration for her fur babies, Gracie and Ellie. Renee's sense of humor was a source of delight; she was always ready with a corny joke and her signature exclamation, "shoot a monkey," which could defuse any tense situation with a laugh.
An avid Auburn fan, Renee's enthusiasm for her team was contagious, and her presence made game days all the more enjoyable for those who shared in her fandom. Renee's loving, funny, and friendly nature made her a cherished companion and a true friend to many.
Renee's memory will be treasured and kept alive through the stories and laughter she shared with her loved ones. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of those she touched with her generous spirit and unwavering kindness. As we bid farewell to Alicia Renee Taunton, we celebrate a life lived with joy, a heart given to love, and a spirit that will forever resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing her.
