Mr. Alfred Jones "Al" Phillips' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Alfred Jones “Al” Phillips, 88, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 4:00 pm at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Wayne Cowhick and Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ephesus Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Phillips passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Chapman Healthcare Center. He was born on December 5, 1930 in Cuba, Alabama to Sam Barraman Phillips and Bertie Cheaney Phillips. He was an active member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He was a selfless man that always cared for his family and others before himself. He enjoyed hunting, trotline fishing, gardening, and restoring old vehicles. He worked for the City of Alexander City as Department Head of the Waste Water Treatment Plant and retired after 24 years. Mr. Al had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mavis Louise Foshee Phillips of Alexander City; son, Jay Phillips (Selena) of Alexander City; grandchildren, Drew Phillips (McCray), Lynsi Phillips (Jeremy), and Caitlyn Jones; sister, Virginia Thorne; brother, Sammy Phillips; and sister-in-law, Retha Thornton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Dal Phillips and Tolbert Phillips.
