She was 80 years old. Her life was marked by devotion to her family, steadfast faith, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew her.
Mrs. Flournoy was born on June 12, 1945, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, to L.M. Traylor and Lola Carolyn McCain Traylor. She was raised with strong values that shaped the course of her life and guided the way she cared for others. A Christian by faith, she lived with grace, humility, and a generous heart. Those who knew her best will remember her as a selfless, spirited, and intelligent woman whose presence brought comfort and strength to her family.
Agnes graduated from Benjamin Russell High School and later built a long and dedicated career with Russell Corporation, where she retired after 41 years of service. Her work ethic was admired by many, and she approached every responsibility with commitment and pride. She was respected not only for her loyalty and dependability, but also for the kindness and integrity she carried into every part of her life.
Family was the center of Agnes’s world. She loved deeply and gave freely of herself to those around her. She is survived by her husband, Carlton Flournoy; her children, William T. (Misha) Taunton Jr., Angela (Barry) Watson, Josh (Crystal) Flournoy, Jeff (Debra) Flournoy, and Melinda (Michael) Barnett; her brother, Robert (Sharon) Traylor; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She took great joy in her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Her love was steady, her encouragement sincere, and her care unwavering.
In addition to her devotion to family and work, Agnes enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. She loved singing and dancing, reading, and gardening. She also enjoyed going hunting and fishing, activities that reflected her appreciation for the outdoors and the time spent with loved ones. Above all, she found joy in caring for her family, and that love was evident in the many ways she nurtured, supported, and uplifted those around her. Her home and her heart were always open, and her family will forever cherish the memories she helped create.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, L.M. Traylor and Lola Carolyn McCain Traylor; and by her siblings, Patricia “Dutchie” Osburn, Juanita Jarvis, Leon “Bud” Traylor, and Barbara “Dootsie” Jones. Though her passing leaves a deep void, her family finds comfort in the lasting legacy of love, strength, and faith that she leaves behind.
