Mrs. Adelia Adams Coker, known fondly to friends and family as Adelia, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at the age of 85, at The Lantern at Morning Pointe. Born on January 25, 1940, to William Crayton “Booger” Adams and Rose “Rosie” Vera Adams in Alexander City, Alabama, Adelia's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, her passion for education, and her enduring faith.
Adelia's journey began as a beloved daughter and blossomed into a life shared with her late husband, Harold Wayne Coker, Sr., with whom she built a legacy of love and dedication. Her nurturing spirit lives on through her children, Harold Wayne (Tammy) Coker, Jr. of Alexander City, AL, and Andrea Coker (Dave) Logan of Franklin, TN. Adelia delighted in the joy of her grandchildren, Saxon Lee Coker, Harold Wayne (Alli) Coker III, Sarah Logan (Ponder) Thurmond, and her great-granddaughter, Mary Collins Coker. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was the heart of their home.
For 30 years, Mrs. Coker shared her gift of teaching, touching the lives of countless students with her wisdom and compassion. She was not only an educator but also a lifelong learner, continually seeking knowledge and understanding.
Adelia's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's trials and triumphs with grace and fortitude. She found solace in the teachings of Christ and strived to exemplify His love and generosity in her daily actions. Adelia was a faithful member of the Cornerstone Global Methodist Church in Alexander City.
An avid reader, Adelia found great pleasure in the pages of books, where she could explore new worlds and ideas. She enjoyed the challenges of playing Bridge, and she often found tranquility in the ebb and flow of the waves at the beach. However, her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by her grandchildren, whose laughter and dreams brought her immeasurable joy.
Described by those who knew her as loving, generous, and courageous, Adelia's legacy is one of boundless affection and selfless giving. She faced life's challenges with bravery and always extended a helping hand to those in need, embodying the true spirit of kindness.
