Mrs. Ada Woods Hicks' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Ada Woods Hicks, 85, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. George Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hicks passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Baptist South Medical Center. She was born on April 2, 1940, in Hell Fer Certain Creek, Kentucky to Allen Woods and Tennessee Begley Woods.
Ada was a wonderful, selfless, loving mother who doted on her children. She was always present in their lives. She loved to cook wonderful meals for her family, go shopping at thrift stores with her children and watch westerns on television. Anyone that came to visit her would be greeted by her sitting in her favorite swing on the front porch with a cup of coffee and usually talking on the phone.
She is survived by her children, Charlie (Kyong Cha) Hicks Jr., Carmella S. Meadows, Charlene Ammons, Crystal Elaine Hogan, Stephen L. Hicks, Sharon A. Grier; son-in-law, Mark W. Grier; grandchildren, Jonathan and Jason Hicks, Melissa Wilhite, Bryant Meadows, Becky and Billy Ammons, Patrick, Candace, John, Shirelle, and Hunter Layfield, Derek Hogan, Kelly Watters, Emily Hogan, Timothy Hicks, Trenton Mount, Alex, Matthew, Austin and Mason Grier; twenty nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Charlie Hicks; granddaughters, Jessica Hicks, Joanna Layfield; grandson, Anthony Hogan; parents; and siblings, Hershal Woods, Edna Woods, Virgil Woods, Edith Woods, Emmett Woods, Gertrude Begley, Sada Eversole, Charlie Woods, Markim Woods, Sim Woods and Granville Woods.
