Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Gilliland's Obituary
Graveside service for Martha Elizabeth Gilliland, 77, of Goodwater, will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 4:00 pm at the Gilliland Family Cemetery. Bro. Larry Forester will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. \r\n\r\nMrs. Gilliland passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born on November 12, 1936 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Marvin Odis Riggins and Ruby Louise Caudle Riggins. She worked as a Customer Service Representative for Alabama Power for over 10 years. She was an active member of Goodwater United Methodist Church where she played both the piano and the organ. She also sang in the choir. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Meg Sanders (George), of Laceys Spring, AL; son, Steve Gilliland of Goodwater; grandchildren, Stephen Sanders and William Sanders of Huntsville; nieces, Jill Martinez and Suzi Duke of Columbus, GA and Marian Murphy of Birmingham; nephews, Tom Duke of Columbus, and Max Duke (Teresa) of Washington, DC; cousins, Ernestine Eble of Parkdale, AL and Lynn Eble of Birmingham; brother-in-law, Joe Gilliland of Goodwater; sister-in-law, Betsy Eyraud of Birmingham and her very good friend Cindy Dean of Mt. Olive, AL.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Gilliland Jr., her parents and her sister, Peggy Duke.\r\n\r\nThe family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org.\r\n
