Mr. Leonard Arthur Stallings

Funeral mass for Mr. Leonard Arthur Stallings, 88, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Joseph Thekkethala will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with veteran’s honors provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the church. \r\n\r\nMr. Stallings passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home. He was born on August 16, 1921 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to George Robert Stallings and Izzielean White Stallings. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and was a true servant of God. He was the owner and operator of Stallings Pool Service. He built swimming pools for fifty years and built many for celebrities. Mr. Stallings was generous beyond belief and helped many people. He loved family time and his great grandchildren were very special. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran having served in World War II, served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the VFW. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loyette Maguire Stallings of Alexander City; daughters Susie Kelley (Ricky) of Alexander City, Jane Owsley of Opelika, Cheryl Suddeth (Billy) of Dadeville, Darlene Williams of Alexander City and Michelle Koster (John) of Cocoa Beach, FL; son, Michael Stallings of Alexander City; grandchildren, Alan Wayne King, Tony Ray Owsley, Lea Ann Wilson, Emily Caldwell, Michael Suzanne Strickland, Brandi Lynne Corley, Michael Arthur Stallings and Beth Ann Hurst; great grandchildren, Johnathan W. King, Dalton Parks, Dark Caldwell, Tomy Caldwell, Rebecca Caldwell, Dylan Strickland, Addie Strickland, Lilli Wilson, Kelley Wilson, Luke Williams Hurst, Parker Lee Stallings and Paxton Daniel Stallings; sister, Minnie Bell Blair of Alexander City and Ruth Kennedy of Flowery Branch, TX; brother, John Robert Stallings of Opelika; and sister-in-law, Margie Taylor of Montgomery.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Steven Wade Forbes; great-grandchild, Cade Corley; sisters, Jewel Keel and Lesell Hurst; and brother, Aubrey Lee Stallings. \r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank Bill Nichols State Veterans Home for their loving care and Dr. Temple for his many years of friendship and service. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 454 N.
