I will always be grateful for knowing such a fine surgeon and friend as Dr. WATWOOD. When I first got out of nursing school in 1976 I was scared of him because if his demenor and size. Little did I know that this "big man" had such a good heart!! He taught me so much about Healthcare and how to assist him during surgery. I will forever be grateful for that. I'm thankful I was fortunate to work with Dr. Watwood and those who really knew him knew that this man was really just a "big Ole teddybear" RIP, my friend. Loved you! !!
Nancy and Family,
Davidson College just notified me of John's death. Please accept my deepest regrets on his passing. John and I were classmates and teammates at Davidson. He was a great person and one fine football player.

Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss, and I send you much sympathy. I read the obituary, and the phrase "life-long learner" certainly captures a part of John that I observed and enjoyed and admired on many occasions.
Sincerely, Tom Gibbs
Nancy. I am so sorry for your loss I worked with him in surgery from 1975 on. We had a very special friend relationship. He loved to ask questions to see if a person was smart or not !!!

Jane, I am so sorry for your loss. I was happy when I heard that John had made a Dr. .I'm sure he was a good one. You are in my prayers.
Nancy,
I just read about your husband passing away and so sorry this has happened. I have not seen you in quite a number of years, but I cherish the childhood years growing up on Magnolia Street in Trussville with your precious family close by. David and I will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
Love to you and the family,
