Mrs. Marjorie "Margie" LeCroy Cardwell

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie "Margie" LeCroy Cardwell, 98, of Rockford, Alabama, will be Friday, December 11, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City. Rev. Paul Shaw and Rev. George Gardin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City. Mrs. Cardwell passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at her home. Margie was born on May 15, 1922 in Rockford, Alabama to James Walter LeCroy and Mary Etta Thomas LeCroy. She graduated Salutatorian from Coosa County High School in 1940. Mrs. Cardwell loved her family dearly. She enjoyed being a homemaker; was a wonderful cook, and had a passion for frequently hosting gatherings for her children’s friends and her church family. Mrs. Cardwell loved flowers, reading, and enjoyed ceramics. She was an active poll worker and never missed voting. Mrs. Cardwell was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was song director and church secretary for many years. In her later years she was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Ricky Darrel Cardwell (Glenda) of Rockford, Alabama; daughter, Ann Cardwell Brown of Midlothian, Virginia; grandchildren, Amanda Carones (Francesco), Darrell Cardwell (Tammie), Patrick Brown (Liz), and Stuart Brown; great-grandchildren, Sandro Carones, Milo Carones, Carson Cardwell, Mackenzie Cardwell, Reagan Cardwell, and D.J. Cardwell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alford Clarence Cardwell; son, Donald Frank Cardwell; her parents; three sisters, Berta Samford, Alta Dunlap, and Clara Culver, and two brothers, Cleo LeCroy and Valford LeCroy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o First Bank, 9636 US Hwy 231, Rockford, Alabama 35136. All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
