Mrs. Marie Powell

Graveside Service for Mrs. Marie Powell, 90, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Radney Funeral Home. Mrs. Powell passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at University of Alabama Hospital. She was born on March 25, 1932, in Saraland, Alabama to Dewey Norwood and Essie Stokes Norwood. She worked at Russell Corporation for over 45 years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and planting flowers in her garden. She doted whole-heartedly on her great-great-grandchildren. After retiring she began working at What’s Curb Market baking biscuits every morning. She loved her family and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her sons, Larry Powell (Brenda) and Jerry Powell (Bonnie) both of Alexander City; grandchildren, Robyn Powell, Barbara Sharpe, Jason Powell (Mandy), Kristie Smith (Chris), Angie Kittrell, Larrmy Warren, and Amanda Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jodi Powell, Justin Sims, Colby Sawyer, Lindsey Johnston (Josh), Mallory Ayers, Amber Sharpe, Ethan Adcox, Landon Wilson, Allie Kittrell, Jackson Powell, and Payton Powell; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Sampley of Bessemer; and brother, Benny Norwood of Alexander City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Levy Powell; daughters, Frances Crumbley and Kathy Taylor; grandchild, Jeremy Powell; and 4 siblings.
