Funeral Service for Mr. Edward L. Jones Jr., 85, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Alan Baker and Rev. Chip Vann will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with Veteran Honors provided by the Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Mr. Jones, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his residence. He was born on August 2, 1936 in Ocala, Florida to Edward Lee Jones and Henrietta Bryan Jones. He was an active and very faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Alexander City. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of the University of Florida, where he ran on the track team. Ed loved his family and was very proud of his children. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Cater Jones of Alexander City; daughter, Lee Ann Cordes (Art) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sons, John Edward Jones of Chesapeake, VA, Lee Randall Jones (Tara) of Alexander City, Bruce Baker of Tuscaloosa, Alan Baker (Heather) of Troy, TX, and Kevin Baker (Jan) of Severn, MD; grandchildren, Alex Bolton (Ros), Kyra Selph (Ryan), Sydney Jones, Keri Jones, Hope Baker, Erin Ojeda (Sebastian), Taylor Jones, and Grant Jones; great-grandchildren, Stafford Bolton, Conrad Bolton, and Bryant Selph; sister-in-law, Georgia Lee Jones of Bradenton, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Col. " Bud" Needham Bryan Jones (USAF), and daughter-in-law, Page Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
