When my daughter, Heather, brought home her new boyfriend, as we were eating dinner Al said that his step father had gone to the University of Florida. Thinking there was little chance, I asked his name, "Ed Jones" said Al. I said Was he a blond haired guy who ran track?" Al, said yes, and I realized that Ed and I were Sigma Chi fraternity brothers who had not seen each other for over 20 years.
The next time I saw Ed and met Carolyn, was when Ellen and I met them half way between Dothan and Americus to plan Heather and Al's wedding. A year or so later Ed and Carolyn came to Mexico Beach and fished from our sailboat with us. Carolyn hung what we thought was a tremendous fish, but after her fighting it for several minutes, we discovered that her lure had snagged a buoy. She was disappointed, but we all had a big laugh!. It was great fun.
The last time was at our granddaughter Erin's wedding in Banner Elk, NC. I will miss him, but am thankful that I had college and other great times with Ed.
