Mr. Alvin C. Tate

Alvin C. Tate, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering faith. Born to Benjamin Marvin Tate and Lizzie Laverne Tate, in Coosa County, AL on November 1, 1938. Alvin grew to be a man of integrity and humor, touching the lives of all who knew him. Alvin's early years were spent in the halls of Benjamin Russell High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, instilling in him a sense of discipline and patriotism that he carried throughout his life. Upon returning to civilian life, Alvin embarked on a successful career with Unocal, dedicating 33 years of service before retiring. His work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a respected figure among his colleagues and within the industry. Alvin spent his last years in Auburn, AL, where he shared a blessed life with his beloved wife of 66 years, Carol Sellers Tate. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a family that became Alvin's pride and joy: son Mark K. Tate and his wife Janet of Alexander City, daughter Beth Tate Guilmette and her husband Gary of Dadeville, and daughter Stephanie Tate Barnett and her husband Dan of Jacksons Gap. His role as a grandfather was one of Alvin's greatest joys, and he was an example to his grandchildren of love and commitment to family: Megan Martinez and her husband Andre, Amanda Guilmette, Jennifer Seals and her husband Colton, Sellers Tate, Meredith Romano and her husband Luke, David Tate, Matthew Barnett, Katie Barnett, and Erin Barnett. Alvin's laughter and wisdom will live on through his great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jonah, Charlotte and Joel Giordano; Evelyn Tate; Olivia Romano and Teddy Seals. Alvin was a committed Christian, living his faith through his actions and words. He was involved in his community, always ready with a funny story or a helping hand. He loved Auburn football, golfing, and spending time at Lake Martin with family and friends. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Laverne Tate, and his sister, Irene Tate Gandy. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many lives he touched. As we bid farewell to Alvin C. Tate, we do so with the assurance that his spirit has found peace in the arms of Jesus. We celebrate a life well-lived, a journey completed, and a soul that has undoubtedly heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Alvin's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have felt the warmth of his smile and the generosity of his spirit.
